Table Top

This unique and one of a kind table was inspired by the beauty of Yellowstone National Park.

When I first got this slab, of what I think is Myrtlewood, it was covered with an old, yellowing, and cracked epoxy. To make things worse somebody painted the center of it and filled the holes with moss. It was butt ugly to say the least!

After I cleaned of the epoxy the beauty of the wood was apparant. I wasn't sure what to do with it so I set it aside for awhile. Then one day I was looking at it and it dawned on me that the section of the table I was looking at reminded me of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. The rest was simple.

I added FishFry to the center of the slab because that inlay was designed after the Cutthroat Trout of Yellowstone Lake. One of the smaller holes I placed a Jake Spin-a-lure in it because that's the lure I used to cath the fish. Then I added some rockes to the larger hole because of all of the lures I lost on the bottom of the lake. In the smalles hole I poued some blue epoxy to honor the geothermal features of the park. Then on the open end of the slab, I added a treasure chest because Yellostone is anational treasure.

The stand, made from Purple Heat, Maple, Goncalo Alves and Cherry, is a little different because... well so am I :)
